It is normal for the "Device Not Ready" message to be displayed after a device is first added to a field unit, indicating that the device is in the process of being added. This process can take up to 10-15min. If the "Device Not Ready" error persists after 30min, it is likely that:
- The device driver has not added correctly to the field unit
- The device or cable is drawing too much current
- The configuration of the device is incorrect
Resolving the Error
Device Driver Issue
If the device driver has not added to the field unit properly, the issue can be resolved by deleting the device and adding it again. Alternatively, the field unit can be rebooted. If you are unsure of how to do this, reach out to our Support Team and we can do it remotely for you.
Overcurrent Issue
An overcurrent due to a faulty cable can sometimes cause a device to get stuck in this state. Reach out to our Support Team and we can check the logs and walk you through resolving the issue.
Configuration Issue
For Solo devices that are powered via the sensor port, such as the 4-20mA sensor, change the POWER field to "Default" from the Device Settings in Manage Equipment and the error should be resolved:
