Subscription Fees
Observant Global is a subscription based service. It’s important to understand that all Observant solutions sold will have ongoing Subscription Fees. Ongoing use of Observant Global and the ability for Observant equipment to communicate with the Observant Global software platform requires the payment of these recurring charges.
The subscription fees cover all aspects of your use: any cellular communications costs for the equipment, all data transfer, processing and storage, SMS and email notifications, access to the entire suite of online, cloud-based applications from your browser and mobile devices, ongoing software improvements, and an Australian based support team to help you with any questions or problems you might have with your system.
Observant Global Subscription Fees are charged on a monthly basis, per telemetry unit, regardless of how it connects, i.e. Cellular, Radio or both, and per device. Customers will be charged directly using the Billing Portal.

Unlock Licenses
Observant telemetry modules are capable of two functions: monitoring and control. Monitoring can be broadly summarised as inputs, like tank level sensors, flow meters, weather stations, pressure sensors. While control can be broadly summarised as outputs, like pump control, valve control and actuator control. On 1 April 2025 Observant introduced a 'one-time' fee to permanently unlock all of the control functionality of a telemetry module, which was offset by a significant reduction in the upfront cost of the telemetry module hardware. The telemetry module is capable of monitoring functions without an 'unlock', but customers will be charged directly for an unlock license using the Billing Portal, should they choose to add a control function to a telemetry module in the Observant Global interface. Telemetry modules purchased before 1 April 2025 are exempt from this change and will not incur an unlock fee to activate the control functionality of the telemetry module.

Payment Contact
Your use of Observant Global is organized around a Portfolio - the collection of equipment you use and manage. For each Portfolio, there are users who have different levels of access, from read-only to administrative access. Each Portfolio has a subscription associated with it, and there is always one user who has been assigned the responsibility for paying the subscription fees associated with the Portfolio: the Payment Contact.
When a Portfolio is set up in Observant Global, a user will be nominated as the Payment Contact. This user will receive an email notification informing them of this assignment, and requesting them to fill in their credit card details through the Billing Portal called Chargify.
As well as the Payment Contact there may be other users with either "Admin" or "Configure" level access who are able to modify the portfolio in a way that could alter the ongoing subscription costs and incur charges for unlock licenses.
Billing
Chargify is a secure recurring billing system that helps you manage and make payment of your Observant subscriptions and licenses easier, faster and more efficient. This billing portal is independent of Observant and approved by our banking provider Westpac.
Fees for your subscription service are calculated on a monthly basis. The fees are billed on a monthly basis by default, but you may opt for quarterly or annual billing.
