Question
What happens if we lose connectivity to the telemetry unit (or units) during a schedule?
Answer
This depends on the state of the scheduled devices (i.e. valves, floodgates, etc.) at the time comms is lost with the telemetry unit.
In most cases, the telemetry unit will have been pre-scheduled 30 minutes before the start of the schedule. So even if comms is lost, the device will start irrigating in the field at the start time. However, it will be marked as failed in the application within a few minutes of its start time, as the application can’t confirm if the device opened successfully.
If a scheduled device is irrigating when comms is lost, it will continue irrigating in the field until its scheduled stop time. However, the application will mark it as failed if it does not reconnect within 2 hours of it going offline or at the stop time (whichever is earlier).
When a device is failed in the application, it will trigger an auto-skip and the application will try to open the next scheduled device in the sequence. If this device is online, it will be opened and subsequent irrigation devices will be sent a program update to open sooner.
But if this device is also offline, the application will try to open the device scheduled after it and so on until it can successfully open a device.
