Many devices connected to earlier Observant platforms can be migrated to the Observant C3 if the field unit needs to be upgraded for any reason.
Detailed descriptions of the assembly, installation and connections to a C3 can be found in the C3 User Guide, but we have also assembled the most common scenarios here:
Observant L1 Level Sensor
To connect an Observant L1 Level Sensor to a C3:
- the L1 Level Sensor must be connected to one of port RS485(1) or RS485(2)
- if the existing sensor connects to the C1 or C2 via a moulded 9-pin connector, remove the connector then strip approximately 5mm of insulation from each conductor
- terminate the four conductors to the four pins of the RS485 port as follows:
To connect a pulse output flow meter to a C3:
- the two flow meter conductors must be connected to an available C3 Input
- strip approximately 5mm of insulation from each conductor
- terminate the two conductors to the two pins of a C3 input as follows:
or
To connect a tipping bucket rain gauge to a C3:
- the two flow meter conductors must be connected to an available C3 Input
- strip approximately 5mm of insulation from each conductor
- terminate the two conductors to the two pins of a C3 input as follows:
or
