Hardware Identification and Port Assignment
- The standard submersible water level sensor (part #10833) measures a 0–5m range and includes a 5m cable.
- Connect the submersible level sensor to 1 of the 4 available "Output" ports on the C3+ module, or the Serial and 4-20 mA port on the Solo+.

Sensor Placement and Configuration Preparation
- This unit drops in from the top of the tank and should be placed at 10 cm from the bottom of the tank.
- You will need to know the exact tank height to then configure the unit in Observant Global. Water level readings can be consistently inaccurate if the initial tank height and head clearance measurements are incorrectly entered in Observant Global.
Step-by-Step Configuration in Observant Global
- Log into the Observant Global software platform and navigate to the Manage Equipment application from the welcome page.
- Locate and select the specific Site and C3+ Field Unit where the sensor is installed.
- Click Add Device and select the level sensor from the drop-down menu.
- Select the Level Sensor category from the drop-down menu.
- Select Submersible Level Sensor from the device drop-down menu.
- In the Connection menu, assign the device to the specific port you wired the sensor.
- For C3+, connect the submersible sensor to the Output port (+/-).
- For Solo+, select Port in the Power selection menu.
Once you have completed the port configuration, navigate to the Monitor page to finalise the sensor depth and base clearance.
Select the cog icon next tot the tank you are configuring and select 'configure'
Ensure that your depth of sensor and base clearance measurements are saved in the device configuration.
Note: It is important to accurately measure both the sensor depth and the distance the sensor is off the base of the tank.
- Select if the level sensor should display in Percentage (%) or Depth (m).
Set your preferred notification thresholds (Very Low, Low, High, Very High) to receive automated SMS or email alerts when water levels reach critical points
- Your data will start to appear in the new monitor card.
Congratulations you have successfully installed the submersible level sensor to your field unit.
Troubleshooting Common Sensor Errors
- "Under-range" Error: This indicates the sensor is drawing a current below its 4mA minimum operating range. Inspect the wiring to ensure cables are securely attached to the field unit and not damaged. Verify that the physical water reading is not below the sensor's operating range. If both are correct, the sensor may have failed electrically.
- "Over-range" Error: This occurs when the sensor detects a reading greater than its maximum limit, such as 20mA. This means the physical reading is beyond the maximum value that the sensor can correctly detect, or the sensor has failed.
