Camera pack includes: V1 camera with 60cm cable, pole mount bracket, 2x 40-70mm hose clamps and device cable #00774.

Information required for registration

Serial number (SP-0xxxxx) of your Solo+ located on the inside of the enclosure door.

Observant V1 Camera

The V1 is a low-power, ruggedised, color, still-image camera. It communicates to (and is powered by) the field unit via a 4-way electrical connection.

Electrical connection

The V1 is a standard, Modbus, serial communications device and is supplied with cables terminating in Observant's standard, 4-way, device connector.

The standard device cable (DTC) is 19' 8" (6 m) in length, this may be shortened if desired by re-wiring the terminal block end.
If a longer cable run is needed the 32' 9" (10 m), device extension cable (DCE) can be used.
Either cable will connect to the V1's cable.

Installation notes

Be aware of the of the V1 camera's field of view when selecting a mounting location. See Figure below.
The V1 can mount to the same pole as the Solo+ using the provided pole-mount bracket.
Either high-quality, flexible conduit or standard, rigid, electrical conduit can be used to protect the cabling.
Alternatively, if the elevation allows, the V1 can be mounted directly into the 32 mm, bottom-entry hole of the Solo+.
Be sure to install the V1 body with its vent hole oriented and LED downward; otherwise, your image will appear upside down.
Ensure that the vertical adjustment bolt is fully tightened only after you are satisfied with the position of the camera.
Note: the 4-way device connector on the end of the device cable can be threaded through standard 1" (25 mm) electrical conduit.

Assembly

Attach mounting brackets to module

Attach the mounting brackets to the back of the module securely with the supplied screws.

Assemble solar panel kit

Assemble the solar panel brackets

Place the washers in the correct order on the bolts.

Insert the bolts through Part A.

Assemble the brackets together loosely, carefully noting the orientation of Part B.

Thread hose clamp through solar mounting bracket

Take one of the supplied 46-70mm hose clamps and unscrew the band. Thread the band through the solar mounting bracket assembly. Clamp it but do not tighten now.

Attach panel mounting bracket assembly to solar panel

On the side of the solar panel marked “THIS SIDE UP”, place the bracket assembly so that Part B is on the underside of the frame and Part A on the topside of the frame. Slide the bird guard between Part A and the top of the solar panel and tighten the bolts.

Mount Module and Solar Panel on Pole

Attach module to pole:

Attach solar panel assembly to pole.

The entry into the Solo+ is through the bottom of the enclosure.

Route the solar panel cable securely inside the solar panel frame and flush against the pole to prevent it from hanging loosely. Secure it to the pole at the top and bottom using the provided cable ties. Insert the insulated cable through the smaller gland.

Remove the insulation tape from the wires. Connect the red wire of the solar panel to 1 and black to ground on the POWER IN port plug.

Mount Antenna on Module

Securely attach the 4G-LTE antenna to the connector located at the top of the Solo+ enclosure. Ensure a firm connection by tightening the nut on the antenna connector cable. Solo-TK-assy-R1 v15_LTEAntenna.png

Peel off the red protective film from the permanent adhesive strip on the antenna base. Press down firmly for 2-3 minutes to securely affix it to the top of the Solo+ enclosure.

Install Camera

There are many mounting options for the V1 camera. Make sure you've read the Installation notes carefully before installing.

Connection to Solo+

Be sure to mate the device and V1 cables carefully and secure with the knurled ring on the V1 cable. Connect to the Sensor & 4-20mA port of the Solo+.

Turn on the Solo+ and add the new equipment to Observant Global

Click the power button on the Solo+ to turn the unit on.
